What a usable ID photo needs

Most authorities want a recent color photo, plain background, face centered, neutral expression, and no heavy filters. Exact millimeter rules differ by country — pick the matching preset when available, then verify against your embassy or government checklist before you print.

Lighting and clothing tips

  • Even front light beats harsh shadows on one cheek.
  • Avoid sunglasses and hats unless a medical/religious exception applies.
  • Wear contrast against the background so the silhouette is clear.

Printing

Export at the tool’s stated DPI/size guidance, then print on photo paper without “fit to page” scaling in the print dialog. Crop first if the camera shot included too much torso.
