When you should resize (not compress)

Use resize when a website, app, print shop, or social network asks for a specific width and height. Compressing alone reduces file weight but leaves the pixel dimensions unchanged — forms that reject “image too large” usually mean pixels, not kilobytes.

Pixels vs percent

Pixels are best when you know the target (for example 1080×1080 or 1920×1080). Percent is faster when you only need something half / 70% / double the original for a quick draft. Keep aspect ratio locked unless you intentionally need a stretch.

Fit modes that avoid ugly stretch

  • Scale — sizes the whole image to your width/height; may leave empty space if only one side is constrained.
  • Padding — keeps the full image visible and fills unused canvas with color or transparency (useful for logos and product shots).
  • Crop after resize — when a platform crops from the center, set the final ratio first with the crop tool, then export.

Quality tips

Downscaling usually stays sharp. Upscaling invents pixels and softens detail — enlarge only when a site refuses a small file, and prefer PNG/WebP for graphics with text. Soft export: JPG quality 80–90 for photos, PNG for screenshots with UI.

Privacy: preview runs in your browser. Choose Download to keep the file on your device, or Share for a temporary link (active shares auto-delete within 48 hours). See our privacy policy.

Set 1080×1080 (or the story/reel size you need), use padding or crop the subject manually so faces stay centered, then download.

Browser export creates a new image file; location and camera metadata from the original are typically not preserved — intentional for privacy on shared links.
You can resize JPG, JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, BMP, GIF, TIFF, and SVG images. The resized image can be downloaded in the same format or converted to a different one.
Our resizer uses high-quality resampling algorithms to preserve sharpness and color accuracy. For best results, avoid enlarging images beyond 2x their original size, as this can introduce softness.
